EVV Satyanarayana’s next Fitting Master inculcates to youngsters that parents deserve more love and respect. Starring ‘Allari’ Naresh and debutant heroine Madalasa Sharma, the movie directed by produced by Evv Satyanarayana on his production house EVV Cinema as his Production No-8.

The maker renowned for his humor quotient in the movie is making ‘Fitting Master’ in the same amiable vein. The title itself speaks about Naresh’s character which has the habit of provoking a fight among other for entertainment. But it all ends for good. The movie has a unique theme with his trademark riot that will keep the eyes of the audiences filled with joyous tears.

The director is keen to make an impact on the contemporary youngsters with his theme that shelters parents and goes on to say they should not be disdained for the sake of the newly formed love between a girl and a boy. The theme is quite new and might reach the masses well for its distinct combination of satirical humor.

The unit is preparing to start its latest schedule of shooting from 1st of November, in the locales of Visakhapatnam and Aruku. During this schedule a song, some scenes and few fight sequences will be canned.

Review
Story

Sasirekha (Genelia) is summoned by her strict father (Ahuti Prasad) to return home. After coming home she realizes that her marriage is fixed with an NRI and her wedding is due that night. She also learns that the groom’s father is money-minded. She has no choice left but to run away. She meets Anand (Tarun) on her journey. He protects her and helps her. The rest of the story is all about the background of Anand and what happens between the couple.

Artists Performance

Genelia: You would see an entirely different Genelia in this film. She did not wear any make-up. She is completely child-like and playfully innocent. It appears like she dubbed her own voice in certain scenes of the film. Her hysterical performance when she is slapped shows another shade of her. And her performance in the scene in which she banters after getting drunk is very good. She gave wide variety of expressions in this film.

Others: Tarun plays the second fiddle. But his performance in the hospital scene in the climax is ultimate. Ahuti Prasad scores again in this film. But his usage of expletives at end his dialogue is little discomforting to ears. Subbaraju dons a refreshing (away from his usual roles) role in this film. He is excellent. Paruchuri Gopala Krishna is extremely good as the villainous elder. Abhi did a significant role. Monali Chowdary is good in a cameo. MS Narayana is excellent in the tax-payers episode. Vamsi (Paiditalli from Happy Days) has a small, but interesting role.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the film has nothing to do with Jab We Met film but for a couple of slight references (heroine mouthing abuses on phone and the beginning notes of Edo song). The story of the film is simple. Hence it is very difficult to write screenplay. There is only one screenplay knot that is opened in the interval. The entire second half is about how heroine falls in love with the hero. Hence there is no conflict point in the second half as audiences are well aware by then that heroine’s parents are not going to catch her. Though the initial half an hour after the interval bores you, the director turns it around with well conceived scenes towards the end of the film. The most hilarious scene in the film belongs to MS Narayana where he explains how drunkards are helping the Government. There are two defining moments in the second half –

1. Genelia’s banter after getting drunk: The way heroine questions the man’s attitude and explains the depth of women’s heart showcases the director’s deep understanding of women. The movie turns around from this moment.
2. Lead pair getting caught in an imbroglio: An unexpected scene from an unknown angle changes the complexion of the film and provides a lead to the climax.

The following episodes in the film are unappealing

1. The lorry driver rape attempt followed by hero saving heroine.
2. The court and jail episode.

Other departments: Music of the film is alright. The best song on the screen is ‘Edo’ that comes before the climax. Nice rendition by Saindhavi helps the mood of the situation. Dialogues are nice. Krishna Vamsi seems to be allocating a few minutes of his film’s runtime to eulogize certain things in his recent films. If he had lengthy dialogues about railways and Indian traditions in Rakhi and Chandamama respectively, he tells some good things about Vijayawada (only after belittling it). Cinematography is adequate. The producer should have taken more care in the postproduction (especially DI) which would have enhanced the visual appeal of the film.

Analysis: The title cards sequence (involving visuals of Maya Bazaar song Aha Na Pellanta’) is very good. The first half of the film is adequate. The initial half of the second half is boring (a common problem with journey flicks if they do not have conflict point). The director makes it up in the last half an hour. The positive points are Genelia and last half an hour. On the flipside, there is no conflict point (that creates dramatic impact) in the second half. This film has elements that can go well with class audiences and women. We have to wait and see how it fares at box office.

Movie Review - Good (comedy)

Director Srinu Vytla gave three successive hits and as such the expectations on the new film King soared a lot. The film King has an impressive star cast and this gave a further boost to the expectations of everyone. But has the director managed to live up to the expectations? Let’s take a look

Story: King (Nagarjuna) is the eldest son of a royal family from Coimbatore. Kings’s father (late Sobhan Babu) and his mother Geetha are his giuing force. King’s scheming uncles Jayaprakash Reddy, Sayaji Shinde and Krishna bhagawan are good for nothing fellows but King tolerates them as he loves his aunts very much.

Kinh has a younger brother and King loves him immensely and doea evceerything to please his younger brother. When King goes to Uttaranchal to deal with a business problem, he is shot dead.

The scene now shifts to Hyderabad where Gnaneswhwar (Sri Hari) is a local don. He faces competition from another new don Bottu Seenu (Nagarjuna). Bottu Seenu falls in love with Sravani (Trisha). But Sravani loves another guy Sharat (Nagarjuna) a software engineer.

Whi is Sharat, who is Bottu Seenu and is King really dead? Answers to all these doubts and many more can be found on the silver screen.

Performance:

Nagarjuna gets a chance to play a character that requires him to play three distinctly different personalities – King, Bottu Seenu and Sharat a software engineer. Nagarjuna does full justice to all the three characters.

Trisha plays the role of the younger sister of Sri Hari. She looks as ravishing as ever and she gives a good performance. Sri Hari gets to play a role similar to one he played in Dhee. Sri Hari’s act of trying to become a famous painter like MF Hussain brings in some laughs. Brahmanadam plays the role of a music director who is famous for lifting the tunes of others. He manages to raise some laughs. Mamatha Mohandas’ role is brief but crucial and she does full justice to the role that has negative shades.

The rest of the star cast – Geetha, Jayaprakash Reddy, Sayaji Shinde, Krishna Bhagawan, Mamatha Mohandas, Sudha and others are okay in their roels.

The group song of Nagarjuna with Trisha, Mamatha Mohandas, Charmy, Anushka, Sneha Ullal, Genelia, Priyamani and Kamna Jethmalani is good and the audience enjoy it immensely.

The film is very lengthy, almost three hours. The director has tried to inject too many sub plots and this leads to some confusion. The comedy is also just average. A couple of songs have been set to foot tapping music and the title song ‘K I N G King Vasthunndu King’ is good.

The film runs pretty slowly in the first half and the film runs slowly in the second half too but picks up pace before the end. The film ends up as an average entertainer.

Nikhil Advani didn’t seem to want to leave any stone unturned to make ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ a blockbuster. So, he roped in a host of composers - Kailash Kher, Naresh, Paresh, Bohemia, Shanker-Ehsaan-Loy and Bappi Lahiri to churn out lilting music for his film. Most of the composers have produced unique compositions and given the album an edge.
‘Chandni Chowk To China’ turns out to be quite an entertainer. The opening track is extremely enjoyable and is an appropriate title piece. The rendition by Neeraj Sridhar, Anushka Manchanda and Shankar is superb, not to forget Rajat Arora’s lyrics.

A very non-commercial track comes in the form of ‘Chak lein de’. Kailash Kher, who has composed this number along with Naresh and Paresh, has also rendered and written the piece. The track carries a lot of power, shown through the beats and Kher’s rendition. The singer deserves credit for inspiring lyrics.

‘India se aaya tera dost’ is based 1970s popular number ‘Bombay se aaya mera dost’ from ‘Aap Ki Khatir’, which was composed by Bappi Lahiri. But this new version stands nowhere in comparison to the older piece, despite the fact that Bappi Lahiri has composed the tunes and sung it as well. Neither is his rendition interesting nor the musical arrangements appealing.

Kailash returns with “S.I.D.H.U.”, a narrative about the protagonist, Sidhu. Though the track may not appeal immediately, the song grows on you with its very Indian wrapping. The tabla and Kher’s voice give the track a very nice effect. Once again the lyrics have been written by Kailash.

A pure melody comes in the form of ‘Tere naina’ composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. The pairing of Shankar and Shreya Ghoshal is simply fabulous and one would love to hear it again and again. Rajat’s lyrics are another reason why one would love to hear this romantic track repeatedly. ‘Tere naina’ is simple, melodic and extremely appealing to the ears.

All in all, the album of ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ is a sure shot entertainer.

Movie Review:
For all the cricket fans in the country, here is another Bollywood flicker to bowl you over. Meerabai Not Out is the upcoming film, produced under the banner of Pritish Nandy Communications and directed by Chandrakant Kulkarni. Though the name of the movie is a little unconventional, it truly deals with the spirit of cricket in India. In a country where cricketers are treated as demi-gods, Meerabai Not Out attempts to show the stature and the fanaticism of the game amongst Indians. With Mandira Bedi, playing the lead role as Meera Achrekar, it has performances by actors like Anupam Kher, Mahesh Manjrekar and Eijaz Khan.
The fun filled love story revolves around Meera Achrekar (Mandira Bedi), who is a mathematics teacher, enjoying the spring of her life, singly. Living in a Mumbai chawl, the young mathematician was introduced to the enigmatic game by her brother Mahesh (Mahesh Manjrekar). He played cricket at the Ranji Trophy level, but was sadly disillusioned, due to his responsibilities and efforts in meeting the middle class crunching needs. However, Meera remains undeterred and manages to steal tickets to all the matches held at Wankhede stadium.
Though her family is troubled by her single status, the love of her life remains cricket, with Anil Kumble, her heart throb, spinning right into her heart. Yet, love finally strikes with heart specialist Dr Arjun (Eijaz Khan). Realization dawns upon her, drawing her attention away from cricket and Kumble. However, the story takes a twist, when her to be father-in-law, Dr Awasthi, is flabbergasted at her ardor for cricket. After all, from Dr Awasthi’s point of view, who would want a daughter-in-law, with her face painted in tricolor, yelling frantically on the streets, in support of the Indian Cricket Army.

Apart from being a sports entertainer, the main attraction of the film is a cameo by the cricketer Anil Kumble. Fondly called ‘Jumbo’, the spinner is all set for his first heart warming innings in Bollywood. Moreover, a lot is expected from the movie, as it is directed by award winning Marathi Director, Chandrakant Kulkarni. The music of the film is composed by Sandesh Shandilya, the phenomenally talented music composer. So, for all those who are having butterflies in the stomach to know what choice Meera actually makes, only the movie Meerabai Not Out has the answer. We can just hope it is not between love and Anil Kumble.

Story Line:

So here’s what: we love cricket. India loves the game. Cricket is the reason for our very existence. Cricketers are our Gods-our triumphant boys in blue. Our religion?-cricket! Our love?- cricket!!! Our obsession?-CRICKET!!!

Well that’s clear enough.

The craziest, most amazing love story! And the one thing it’s not about is hearts, flowers and cupid with his bow-n-arrow! Infact, tweak it a little, take away the bow-n-arrow and put a bat in Cupid’s plump little arms and what you’ve got Meerabai Not Out!

Meera Achrekar, a mathematics teacher at Vishwaprem Vidyalaya, has been a happy single for quite a while now. The great love of her life has been, and will always remain, cricket and Anil Kumble. The meticulous number cruncher is, despite not being the classic eye-candy-teenage-fantasy-fodder, a huge hit in class. And that’s because Meera, unlike most teachers of her school, is more fanatical about her religion, cricket than even the school cricket captain!

Living with her family in their small home in a Mumbai chawl, Meera was initiated into her temple of Wankhede Stadium by her brother, Manoj. Manoj Anant Achrekar played cricket at the Ranji Trophy level. Sadly, middle class making-ends-meet economics got the better of the impressive Maharashtrian leggie, and passion had to make way for responsibility. Mahesh is today a cricket cynic. While Meera bunks classes and fights for season tickets to every cricket match that is played at Wankhede Stadium, Mahesh even steers clear off cricket scores!

While the folk at Bhaktiyog Society have cast aspersions on her craze towards the game, the bigger problem that worries the Achrekar family is Meera’s still-single status. Love suddenly blossoms with heart-specialist, Dr Arjun Sachdeva and Meera realizes that perhaps there is more to life than praying for Team India and Anil Kumble! However, in between this fabulous exchange of text messages, Valentine’s Day outings and walks along Chowpatty, she confesses to Arjun that she is already married to cricket!

So, while the maiden’s heart beats for Anil Kumble and India’s fortunes, the more important question is: will Meera be able to commit to her non-striker beau and keep her prospective father-in-law at bay?

Speaking to the media on phone one of Praveen’s brother said, “It is true that he got married twice. First time, he fell in love and married a girl. We accepted her into our family and they have a daughter. When he attempted for a second marriage, we objected. We were completely unaware about the third marriage or about Bhargavi, because many artists used to meet him in the pretext of organizing programs related to the orchestra.”

‘I do agree that he was not faithful in marital relationships. I and our late father were very much concerned about him because of this attitude. However, he is not so weak to attempt a suicide, and I don’t think he is bold enough to commit murder. I suspect that a third party is involved in this and it could be involving ladies from his past life,’ says his brother.
